Description
Di-Bak AM Herbicide
Active Ingredients: Aminopyralid @ 93.7g/kg & Metsulfuron-Methyl @ 75g/kg (Each capsule contains 37.5mg of Aminopyralid and 30mg Metsulfuron methyl)
Di-Bak AM Herbicide is an encapsulated, non-volatile, water-dispersible granule with non-selective herbicidal activity against many unwanted trees. The Di-Bak AM capsule is drilled and injected directly into the stem’s sapwood (i.e. stem injection into the vascular system). Di-Bak AM moves throughout the plant from the point of injection.Â
Di-Bak AM Herbicide controls tree weeds and unwanted tree plants in forestry, pasture, commercial, industrial, and public service areas. Di-Bak AM Herbicide requires less effort than cut stump or basal bark application methods for effective tree control.
What tree species is Di-Bak AM Herbicide registered to control;
African Olive (Olea europaea) | Flinders Range Wattle (A. iteaphylla) | Pond Apple (Annona glabra) |
Apple Box (Angophora floribunda) | Giant Sensitive Tree (Mimosa pigra) | Prickly Pear (Opuntia spp.) |

Black Wattle (Acacia mearnsii) | Kangaroo Thorn (Acacia paradoxa) | Sydney Golden Wattle (Acacia Longifolia) |
Blackberry (Rubus spp.) | Leucaena leucocephala | Tree Pear (Opuntia tomentosa) |
Blakely’s Red Gum (Eucalyptus. blakelyi) | Messmate Stringybark (E. obliqua) | Wisteria (Bolusanthus speciosus) |
Broad leave Privet (Lingustrum lucidum) | Mimosa bush (Vachellia farnesiana) | Yellow Box (E. melliodora). |

How are Di-Bak AM Herbicide capsules applied;
Use the InJecta applicator to drill a hole and deliver the Di-Bak AM capsule in the sapwood layer beneath the bark. Space capsule insertions at 10cm centres around tree circumference below any branching. Otherwise, remove or treat all branches below the capsule insertion. Ensure that each trunk is treated on multiple-trunk trees. Apply the capsules to each tree at waist height or below. The Injecta 400 has a magazine that holds 30 capsules for multiple applications. Spare magazines are also available. The Injecta 400 system is supplied with an installed 8mm x 165mm drill bit.
The InJecta Applicator is designed to deliver its patented capsule and plug system efficiently and effectively. It produces a treatment hole of the optimum size and correct depth for effective placement in the stem and seals the treatment hole with an air-tight plug.
Does Di-Bak AM Herbicide have to be applied with an InJecta applicator;
If an InJecta applicator is unavailable or only a small number of trees are to be treated, a hand-held drill with an 8mm drill bit can be used. A 25-30mm hole depth is required to place the capsule into the tree’s sap stream. A single capsule is placed into the freshly drilled hole. The one-minute rule applies, as the drill hole should not be allowed to dry out before the capsule is inserted. The dowl plug must be inserted after the capsule. The plug is tapped into the hole with a small hammer or similar tool. This creates an air-tight seal, which is essential for the action of the chemical capsule. It is unnecessary to drive the plug deep into the tree as this will reduce the success of the treatment by compressing the capsule. The top of the plug should be level with the tree surface. Drill and plug at every 10cm circumference interval point around the base of the plant stem. Make the injection below the lowest branch.
When should Di-Bak AM Herbicide be applied;
The most effective time to apply herbicides to woody plants is during growth periods when herbicidal materials will be translocated to growth points throughout the plant. Ensure that the plug to the hole is well secured. The plug is vital to retain moisture for the capsule to break down and the granules to dissolve so the aminopyralid and metsulfuron-methyl enter the sap stream and be translocated throughout the tree.
After applying Di-Bak AM Herbicide, visible effects on an adult tree can be seen in 3-5 weeks. Visible effects are a gradual yellowing and wilting of the leaves, which advances to complete browning of above-ground growth and deterioration of underground plant parts. Di-Bak AM Herbicide contains members of the pyridine and sulfonylurea group of herbicides. It disrupts plant cell growth and acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitor modes of action.
